Robot Vacuum Maintenance: The Time and Consumables to Budget For

A self-emptying, mop-washing dock still needs someone to carry water, clean components and order replacements. Build a care schedule and an Australian parts budget for the exact model before you buy.

What remains after the cleaning run

Before choosing a robot vacuum, find out what you will need to do after it finishes. A dock's feature list describes the jobs it automates. The maintenance section of the manual tells you which jobs remain yours.

For a tank-based vacuum-and-mop system, that means looking beyond the robot to the dirty-water tank, washing area and dust bag. These can sit on different schedules from the brushes and filter. An automatic cycle finishing successfully does not tell you that every component is ready for the next one.

Use three separate entries in your plan: active care, time when a washed part is drying, and replacement purchases. Each affects ownership differently. A filter can take little effort to rinse but still need to stay out of the machine until dry. A replacement pack can last across several purchases or contain several pieces that must be changed together.

The eufy X10 Pro Omni and original Roborock Qrevo Curv below are examples drawn from published manuals and Australian parts listings. They illustrate how to make that plan; they are not a ranking of cleaning performance or results from our own device testing.

Start with the exact model's care schedule

Cleaning and replacement are separate tasks. Put both on the calendar, then adjust your planning around the condition of the parts and the instructions supplied with your machine.

Cleaning ≠ replacement

Manufacturer recommendations

These are manufacturer recommendations, rather than measured lifespans. The examples use the international English T2351 manual and model-specific Qrevo Curv FCC manual. Follow your Australian unit's supplied instructions where they differ.12

Add the jobs outside this table to your own schedule. The X10 manual calls for monthly sensor, charging-contact and swivel-wheel care. Its dirty-water table says to empty and clean the tank when full, while the accompanying instructions recommend cleaning it after a completed cleaning session. Planning only for a full tank would miss that advice.1

For the original Curv, the manual assigns several other jobs, including tank and cleaning-tray care, as required.2 Give yourself an inspection habit for those components. An entry without a fixed interval still needs attention.

Keep the care instructions with the schedule. A calendar reminder alone will not tell you which part may be rinsed or how it must be refitted. Switch off or unplug equipment as instructed before maintenance, and keep this work within the user procedures in the manual.

Count active minutes separately from drying

The published schedules do not establish a typical number of maintenance minutes for an Australian household. Floor area, cleaning frequency and the work you combine into one session can change your own routine. We have no comparable measurement of total active care time for these two models.

For an existing machine, keep a two-week log. Start the timer when you begin the job, include carrying water to and from the sink, and stop when the equipment is ready to be left alone. Record these entries separately:

  1. Water-tank visits

with the number of visits and active minutes for each.

  2. Regular care

including brushes, filter, dustbin, sensors and washing area.

  3. Unplanned interruptions

such as clearing a blockage or responding to an error.

  4. Parts administration

including ordering, checking compatibility and fitting replacements.

Write down monthly tasks that did not fall within those two weeks. A short log gives you usable household inputs, but it will not capture every future fault or seasonal change. Before buying, use the same categories to identify the routine you would be accepting; leave the minutes unfilled until you have evidence.

If you want a yearly planning estimate, multiply regular weekly minutes by 52 and additional monthly minutes by 12. Add tank visits separately only when they were not already included in the weekly care block. Keep irregular interruptions and parts orders visible rather than hiding them inside a precise-looking average.

Curv washed filter / Drying

24 hours

At least. Drying time, not labour.

Drying belongs in a different column. The Curv manual specifies at least 24 hours for its washed filter to dry.2 That affects when you can use the machine again, without amounting to 24 hours of labour. A second compatible filter may let you rotate them, provided each is fully dry before use. Price that reserve before treating it as part of the routine.

Also look at where you will do the work. Can you lift the tanks out, reach the brushes and leave a washed part somewhere suitable? Try the route to the sink with a container. A care schedule is easier to assess when you can picture the actual movements.

Buy the parts you need, in the quantities you need

All prices below are in Australian dollars and were checked on 10 October 2026. They are listed pack prices, before delivery or any applicable discount. Confirm the model, contents and availability again before ordering.

The X10 Pro Omni replacement kit costs $69.99 and contains one roller brush, one brush guard, two side brushes, one filter and two mop cloths. Dust bags are separate. Those two cloths make one complete mop pair for this machine.3

  • 1Roller brush
  • 1Brush guard
  • 2Side brushes
  • 1Filter
  • 2Mop cloths

That assortment can be convenient when several parts are due together. It can also leave you buying components ahead of their own schedule. The shop recommends replacing the kit every three to six months, while the manual gives the roller a six-month replacement interval.13 Check what is due before ordering another whole kit.

For example, eufy's compatible two-filter pack is $29.99. If filters are the only parts you need, compare that purchase with another kit and record the spare you will retain.4 The compatible six-bag pack is $69.95; its quantity alone cannot tell you how many months it will cover in your home.5

A pack's item count also needs translating into complete changes. The original Curv's listed $39.90 filter pack contains two filters. Its $39.90 rotating-mop pack contains two cloths, enough for one complete pair. Dividing both prices by two would conceal the different number of changes each pack provides.67

Compatibility warning

Save the exact accessory SKU alongside the model name. Similar product titles and broad shop categories are insufficient confirmation of compatibility. Here, the Curv examples refer to the original machine with two rotating mop cloths. Do not transfer its mop-cloth purchases to a Curv 2 Flow simply because both names contain Curv.

Build a budget from whole packs

Start with what is already installed and any spares supplied or previously bought. Then list the replacements you expect within a chosen period. Translate those quantities into whole packs and note what will remain afterwards.

For an original Qrevo Curv owner, suppose a twelve-month plan calls for one two-part main-brush set, one filter, two side brushes, four mop pairs and six dust bags. These are selected planning assumptions, not observed household consumption. The bag quantity is an assumption, too.

Original Qrevo Curv / Assumed twelve-month plan

Purchase for this assumed planListed cost
One main-brush pack, containing the two-part set$79.90
One filter pack, containing two filters$39.90
One side-brush pack, containing two brushes$39.99
Four mop-cloth packs, each containing one pair$159.60
Two dust-bag packs, each containing three bags$79.80
Total pack purchases$399.19

The Australian listings identify these parts as compatible with the original Qrevo Curv.678910 The filter purchase leaves one filter unused, worth $19.95 at the pack's unit price. The assumed parts used therefore have a value of $379.24, while the pack purchases cost $399.19.

An assumed one-filter replacement leaves one filter from the $39.90 two-pack in reserve. Abstract quantity diagram, not product geometry.

This calculation starts without crediting an owner's existing stock. Subtract your usable spares before deciding what to buy. It also excludes delivery, cleaning solution, electricity, water and repairs. It is a parts-planning example, not a complete annual running cost or a comparison showing which brand is cheaper.

The same approach works for an X10 kit. Two $69.99 kits plus one $69.95 six-bag pack total $209.93.35 Whether those quantities meet your needs depends on your chosen replacement timing and starting stock. At three-month intervals, two kits would not supply every filter or mop-pair change. Buying kits quarterly would buy four rollers despite the manual's six-month roller schedule. Separate purchases may fit your needs better.

Leave room for supply gaps and repairs

A spare-parts listing answers a narrow question about a part offered today. It does not establish how long the complete robot will last, what a later battery or pump repair will cost, or whether workshop service will be available near you.

Before buying, ask the seller how repairs are arranged, where the machine goes and whether they can quote the process for your exact model. Keep the answer with your receipt. Avoid adding an invented percentage for repairs to an otherwise documented budget; mark costs you cannot yet price as unresolved.

Cleaning solution needs its own check of compatibility, dosage and bottle volume before you can estimate consumption. Use the manufacturer-approved instructions rather than assuming any floor cleaner will suit the dock. Delivery can also change a small parts order. Check the delivered amount without buying unnecessary stock solely to reach a free-shipping threshold.

Consumer guarantees
and voluntary warranties

Australian consumer guarantees sit alongside voluntary warranties. The ACCC says manufacturers or importers must provide repair facilities and spare parts for a reasonable time after purchase, unless they told you beforehand that these would not be available.11 That does not specify a universal number of years or make every routine replacement free.

Before you order

Put the exact model name and accessory SKUs on one page, with separate cleaning and replacement reminders. Price whole packs after subtracting stock you already have. Check whether a wet filter's drying interval fits your cleaning schedule, and whether the tank routine fits your home.

If the plan relies on a part you cannot currently obtain, resolve that supply question with the seller before committing. Keep the manual, parts list and repair contact together so the next purchase starts with the correct model and quantities.
